Employment and Training Program
Maskwa Contracting Inc. (MCI) is committed to fostering Indigenous employment and training as part of our broader dedication to inclusion and diversity. Recognizing the value and unique perspectives that Indigenous communities bring to the workplace, MCI has implemented initiatives to create meaningful opportunities for Indigenous individuals.
Our Indigenous Employment and Training Program (IETP) is designed to maximize employment prospects within our company for Indigenous Peoples. Through extensive outreach, recruitment efforts, and specialized training programs, we aim to not only provide job opportunities but also contribute to the development of skills and expertise within Indigenous communities.
Key features of our Indigenous Employment and Training Program include:
Outreach and Relationship Building
MCI has a dedicated Indigenous Employment and Training Coordinator to manage outreach and engagement with First Nations Communities and organizations.
Regular communication with Indigenous communities, including sharing job postings, building relationships, and promoting training opportunities.
Training Opportunities
MCI sponsors the cost of the 40-hour Basic Security Training (BST) course and the BC Security Workers Licence for Indigenous candidates.
Collaboration with Indigenous communities to host training courses, adapting to virtual formats as needed.
Community Partnerships
MCI actively partners with Indigenous communities, organizations, and entities to support employment initiatives.
Participation in regional partnerships and engagement with organizations such as the BC Metis Federation.
MCI practices the 5 R’s when partnering with Indigenous communities: Respect, Relevance, Responsibility, Reciprocity and Relationship. Positive engagement comes naturally when we understand and respect the participants’ worldviews, values, knowledge and practices.
